Tom: Yo, Miki, I've got a few tickets to the Giants game on Saturday. Wanna come?
Miki: Nah, (1) I'll take a pass.
Tom: You sure? Why, what are you up to?
Miki: (2) I'm just...not so interested in baseball. Don't know the rules much, don't know the teams well either.
Tom: You don't? I didn't know that! Well that's okay, I can teach ya. (2) It's an interesting matchup too, so you really don't want to miss this one.
Miki: Actually, no offense, but… I get bored when I watch baseball! There's like, what, nine players out there but a lot of the time most of them seem to be taking a rest while the pitcher's working his butt off. It's bizarre. And (3) it takes like four hours for a game to end. That's bad enough but it's even more boring when one team is losing by a massive margin but the opponent just keeps on scoring. Even volleyball is more interesting.
Tom: Are you kidding? Baseball is great! You just feel that way because you don't understand the game properly.
Miki: Probably so, but I'm not going. Thanks anyway. (4) Enjoy yourself! Don't get over-excited…
Tom: (5) You bet. And you can spend that time doing something more interesting like watching volleyball.
Miki: Ha ha. |
